Aston Villa Eyes Lazio Defender Mario Gila with €30 Million Bid

Premier League club Aston Villa has joined the growing list of suitors interested in Lazio’s Spanish defender Mario Gila, preparing a €30 million offer to secure his services. The 25-year-old has impressed recently with strong performances in victories against Sassuolo and AC Milan, drawing attention from several top clubs.
Gila’s consistent displays have placed him on the radar of major European teams. Inter Milan reportedly advanced in talks with his agent earlier, but Lazio appears more willing to sell the defender abroad rather than to domestic rivals if a move becomes necessary before his contract expires in 2027.
The Premier League has emerged as an attractive destination for Gila, with clubs like Bournemouth also pursuing him. Aston Villa’s willingness to invest in the player shows their commitment to strengthening their defense and competing in a crowded transfer market.
A portion of any transfer fee will go to Gila’s former club, Real Madrid, due to a resale clause included when he moved to Lazio. This financial arrangement, combined with his contract nearing its final year, makes a sale a practical decision for Lazio’s management.
In addition to Aston Villa, other English clubs such as Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Everton have shown interest, while Spanish side Atletico Madrid has also been linked. The race for Gila is expected to remain competitive as multiple clubs seek to acquire one of Lazio’s most valuable defensive assets.
