Official: Portuguese coach Jardim appointed as Flamengo’s new head coach

Brazilian giants Flamengo have officially announced the appointment of 51-year-old Portuguese coach Jardim as the club’s new head coach.
Flamengo previously dismissed Filipe, who had led the team to five championship titles. The club has now confirmed that Jardim will take charge of the first team, with both parties signing a contract that runs until December 2027.
Jardim is no stranger to Brazilian football. His most recent managerial role was with Cruzeiro (from February to December 2025). Over the course of his career, the Portuguese coach has also managed Chaves, Beira-Mar, Braga, Olympiacos, Sporting CP, Monaco, Al Hilal, Shabab Al Ahli Dubai, Al Rayyan, and Al Ain.
